About Us

I fish Casco Bay from Yarmouth, Maine, and Freeport, Maine. I also fish the waters of Saco Bay from Pine Point in Scarborough. Both areas offer great opportunities to fish in very shallow water, where we can look for these beautiful fish along the mudflats and clear sandy beaches. It gives us options depending on the weather and tide. We can fish rocky shorelines, offshore migration spots, and clear, sandy-bottomed beaches on the same day. These areas are not readily accessible except by trailered boats, which will help ensure an uncrowded experience. The tide, sun, and patterns of the fish dictate the trips. I have been fishing all over Maine, and this is the most consistently productive water we have. We also have a chance to fish for bluefish, and the opportunities to attempt a bluefin tuna on the fly are increasing every year!

Flies and Gear

All my flies are custom-tied for me by a few excellent tiers that I have worked with for years. Some are available for purchase on their websites, and some are kept confidential. www.muddogflies.com and www.ssflies.com are my go-to tiers. I am an Orvis-endorsed fly-fishing guide and carry a full complement of their latest gear. Feel free to bring your favorite rod or try some of the new Helios 2 rods I will have on board.

What to bring:

  • Rods 7-10wt with intermediate to complete sink lines
  • Sunscreen
  • Lunch or breakfast
  • Hat
  • Polarized sunglasses

Boat

We will fish from my 21’ Sailfish Bay Boat. This boat will get us where we need to be comfortably, with seating for up to three anglers and the ability to float in extremely shallow water.
